Leapmotor, an emerging player in the electric vehicle (EV) market, experienced a remarkable surge in sales during May, with a total of 12,058 vehicles delivered. This figure represents a substantial increase of 19.75 percent compared to the same period last year, and an impressive growth of 38.18 percent compared to April of this year. These encouraging numbers were revealed in the latest data released by the company.
While specific sales figures for individual models were not disclosed, Leapmotor did disclose that the delivery of their higher-priced C-series models witnessed a substantial surge of over 38 percent since April. Remarkably, these models accounted for more than 83 percent of the total deliveries, indicating a strong demand for their premium offerings.
Among the C-series models, the Leapmotor C11 series emerged as a major contributor to the company’s success, with over 7,100 units delivered during the month. The C11 series has gained significant popularity among consumers and has established itself as one of Leapmotor’s flagship offerings.
Leapmotor, founded in 2015, boasts an impressive lineup of models currently available for sale. These include the T03, a compact electric vehicle, the S01, a stylish coupe model, the C11, a flagship SUV, and the C01, a flagship sedan.
The C11 and C01 models, which went on sale in September 2021 and September 2022 respectively, hold a prominent position in Leapmotor’s portfolio. These flagship models target a price range between RMB 150,000 ($21,110) and RMB 300,000, catering to customers seeking high-performance electric vehicles with premium features.
In an effort to revitalize sales performance, Leapmotor officially introduced the C11 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) on March 1. This model was specifically designed to tap into a larger market segment, and its launch has played a significant role in the company’s recent success.
Previously, Leapmotor primarily relied on the affordable T03 electric vehicle to drive sales. This led to the company being perceived as a budget EV manufacturer. The T03’s current price range starts from RMB 59,900 to RMB 89,900, making it an attractive option for cost-conscious consumers.
Contrasting with the T03, Leapmotor’s higher-priced C11 EREV is available at a price range of RMB 149,800 to RMB 185,800. Additionally, the all-electric version of the C11 starts at RMB 155,800 to RMB 219,800. The flagship sedan, C01, offers a price range of RMB 149,800 to RMB 228,800, positioning it as a premium choice for consumers seeking luxurious and high-performing EVs.
With the impressive sales growth experienced in May, Leapmotor is solidifying its position in the competitive EV market. The company’s commitment to offering a diverse range of models, including both budget-friendly and premium options, is paying off as they continue to capture the interest of consumers seeking sustainable and high-quality electric vehicles.
