Kia enjoyed a standout year in 2024, marking its second consecutive year of global record vehicle sales. The automaker moved 3.1 million units worldwide, up 0.1% from the previous year, despite a small increase of just 2,073 units.
This growth was particularly evident in the United States, where Kia recorded its highest-ever annual retail sales and its seventh consecutive year of growth. In total, the company sold 796,488 passenger vehicles in the U.S., a 1.8% increase from 2023.
On the electric vehicle front, Kia saw impressive results, with a 74% increase in overall EV sales compared to the previous year. The EV9 three-row SUV led the charge, selling 22,017 units in 2024, a notable jump from just 1,118 units in 2023, although sales only began in December 2023.
The EV6, Kia’s popular electric sedan, also posted strong figures, with 21,715 units sold in the U.S., a 15% year-on-year increase. Kia announced that both the EV9 and EV6 set all-time annual sales records.
While the company continues to generate significant revenue from its portfolio of combustion-powered vehicles, including the K4 and Sportage SUV, which combined sold nearly 300,000 units in 2024, electric vehicles now account for 7% of Kia’s total sales in the U.S., a growing share that is expected to continue climbing.
Kia’s expanding EV lineup, including the refreshed EV6 and access to the Tesla Supercharger network, is likely to drive further growth in the electric vehicle segment moving forward.
