Kia has announced the pricing and trim levels for its highly anticipated EV5 model in New Zealand, one of the first countries outside of China to receive the electric vehicle. The EV5 will be available in both FWD and AWD variants, with only long-range versions offered.

The Kia EV5, which launched in China last year, is set to start from NZ$67,990 in New Zealand. Customers can order the model through dealers, with deliveries expected in the coming months. A prototype of the EV5 is currently on tour at dealerships in the region, giving customers a closer look at the new electric vehicle.

The long-range versions of the EV5 will feature an 88.1 kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of 540 km (approximately 335 miles) and a 141 kW DC charging rate. The entry-level Light trim is a front-wheel drive model with a 160 kW motor and up to 310 Nm torque. Standard features include smart cruise control, Kiaā€™s Highway Driving Assist 2, and front and rear parking sensors. The Light+ trim, priced at NZ$70,450, adds more advanced features such as a 360Ā° camera, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.

Moving up the range are the Earth FWD and Earth AWD trims. The Earth AWD variant includes a second 70 kW motor at the rear, providing a total output of 230 kW and 480 Nm torque. These trims offer additional upgrades over the Light trims, including heated front seats, a heads-up display, and a Vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature. The Earth FWD and Earth AWD retail for NZ$75,450 and NZ$80,450, respectively.

At the top of the range is the EV5 GT, priced at NZ$85,450. The GT is expected to deliver a combined 313 hp from its dual motors and achieve a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds. The specifications of the Kia EV5 for other countries, such as Australia, Canada, and Mexico, are likely to be similar to those in New Zealand.
