Kia has commenced production of its all-electric three-row SUV, the EV9, at its Georgia assembly plant in West Point. The EV9 marks the first electric vehicle (EV) produced in Georgia for sale in the U.S. auto market.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp praised Kia’s expansion in the state, stating, “This expansion of Kiaâs operations in our state and the addition of this incredible new product line to the vehicles already being built in West Point is just the latest example of what comes from state and local partners working with this valued job creator.”
The Kia Georgia plant will manufacture the 2025 EV9 model. The EV9 has received several accolades, including the “Best of the Best” Red Dot award in the Cars and Motorcycle category and the “Best in Class” title from the Texas Auto Writers Association in categories such as Performance SUV, mid-size CUV, and electric vehicle.
The EV9 is recognized for its “Opposites United” design philosophy, featuring a contemporary exterior with strong classic lines. Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America, attributed the EV9 to Kia’s 151% increase in EV sales in the United States.
Kia’s commitment to the U.S. market and Georgia is highlighted through the launch of the EV9.
