Ionity and Village Hotel Club have announced a partnership to install 380 ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging points across 33 of Village Hotel Club’s properties in the UK.
The new charging network, set to be fully operational by the end of 2024, will provide 350 kW of power, enabling EV owners to charge their vehicles up to 80% in just ten minutes.
The chargers will be powered by renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and hydroelectric power, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable energy.
The collaboration aligns with the UK government’s goal of having 80% of cars in the EU electric by 2030. Village Hotel Club has also emphasized that the charging stations will be accessible not only to hotel guests but also to the general public and local communities.
This initiative is part of Village Hotel Club’s broader sustainability efforts, which have already earned the company a Bronze Award for Green Tourism.
Kelli Turner, General Counsel and Director of ESG at Village Hotel Club, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the shift toward a greener future by installing ultra-rapid chargers.
The partnership is also a key part of Ionity’s expansion strategy, as it works to more than quadruple the number of publicly available charging stations and points in the UK by 2025.
Ionity’s UK & Ireland Country Manager, Andreas Atkins, highlighted the importance of the collaboration in making EV driving more accessible and convenient for a growing number of users.
