Hyundai’s Patent Reveals Electric Sports Car Potential, Linked to N Vision 74 Concept

Hyundai’s eye-catching N Vision 74 Concept has captured the attention of car enthusiasts worldwide, fueling fervent calls for the automaker to turn it into a production reality. While Hyundai previously denied plans for a new Pony Coupe, recent patent documents uncovered by The Drive suggest that the company may indeed be working on a project connected to the remarkable N Vision 74 concept.

One of the discovered patent documents reveals a two-door chassis featuring a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic tub, incorporating a substantial tunnel. However, intriguingly, the patent specifies that this tunnel could potentially house electrical components instead of a transmission, hinting at the possibility of batteries being stored within.

The second patent document focuses on the front structure of the same vehicle, showcasing a front wishbone suspension configuration with robust bracing. Such design elements strongly indicate a focus on performance, aligning with the spirit of the N Vision 74 concept.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1974 Pony Coupe designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the N Vision 74 Concept boasts not only an awe-inspiring exterior but also a powertrain that sets it apart from any other car on the market, should it make it to production.

Underneath its captivating exterior, the N Vision 74 Concept houses a 62.4 kWh battery pack, capable of rapid 800-volt charging. It also incorporates a hydrogen fuel cell to charge the battery, alongside an array of independent motors located at the rear axle. This potent combination of technology enables the concept to unleash an impressive 670 horsepower and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.

While these patent filings should be regarded as indications rather than confirmations of Hyundai’s intentions, they do suggest that the company has not entirely discarded the idea of introducing an electric, two-door sports car to its lineup. Automotive enthusiasts eagerly await further updates from Hyundai, as the prospect of a production version of the N Vision 74 Concept remains an enticing possibility on the horizon.
