Hyundai’s Charge myHyundai Service Expands Access to Half a Million Charging Points Across Europe

Hyundai is making strides towards easing the range anxiety of electric vehicle drivers with its charging service, Charge myHyundai. The service has expanded its network to include half a million charge points across 30 European countries, including Ionity and Digital Charging Solutions networks. Although the company has not released details on the breakdown of AC, DC, and ultra-rapid charge points, Hyundai assures that the high-power chargers will ensure fast charging times for customers.

Charge myHyundai offers two different tariffs: the ‘Flex’ option with no monthly fees but no fixed charging costs, and the ‘Easy’ tariff that costs €4.99 per month (free for the first year for Ioniq 6 First Edition customers) and includes fixed rates for AC and DC charging. The price for AC charging is €0.44/kWh, while DC charging is €0.79/kWh. The price at Ionity is the same in both tariffs, but an optional package for €13 per month lowers the price to €0.29/kWh.

Drivers can access the network through their RFID card or the Charge myHyundai app, which offers navigation filter options such as plug type, charging speed, and access type. Real-time updates on charging fees and availability are also available on the app. The use of the charge card and app solution results in one monthly invoice for all charging sessions.

The incoming Ioniq 6 will also come equipped with Plug&Charge capability this year, further streamlining the charging process for Hyundai electric vehicle owners.

This expansion comes as the Volkswagen subsidiary Elli also announced yesterday that it is offering access to half a million charge points in Europe. As the demand for electric vehicles increases, the race to provide accessible and reliable charging networks is becoming more competitive. Hyundai’s move to expand its charging network will undoubtedly be welcomed by its growing customer base, as well as those considering switching to electric vehicles.
