Hyundai Unveils 2024 Ioniq 5 Base Model in Australia Starting at AU$64,500

Hyundai’s 2024 Ioniq 5 has made its debut in Australia, introducing a range of enticing features to the market. Notably, the local lineup has expanded with the addition of an entry-level model, diversifying options for prospective buyers.

At the base of the Ioniq 5 range in Australia is a model equipped with a 58 kWh battery pack, in contrast to the larger 77.4 kWh pack featured in all other variants. This smaller battery pack powers a new electric motor located at the rear axle, boasting 125 kW (167 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Hyundai Australia reports that this model offers a respectable 384 km (239 miles) of range with standard 19-inch wheels, priced at AU$64,500 ($41,402).

For those willing to invest a bit more, the base Ioniq 5 can be upgraded to include the larger 77.4 kWh battery and a robust 168 kW (225 hp) rear electric motor, priced at AU$70,500 ($45,253). This configuration extends the vehicle’s range to an impressive 507 km (315 miles) on a single charge, a remarkable feat for a vehicle of this size.

The 2024 Ioniq 5 Dynamiq model occupies the middle of the range, starting at AU$76,000 ($48,784) with the standard 168 kW (225 hp) motor. Alternatively, for AU$80,500 ($51,672), buyers can opt for the dual-motor system, which combines a 74 kW (99 hp) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) motor at the front axle with another at the rear, adding 165 kW (221 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). This version offers a range of 454 km (282 miles) with standard 20-inch wheels.

At the pinnacle of the lineup stands the Ioniq 5 Epiq, starting at AU$79,500 ($51,031) with the 168 kW (225 hp) motor. For those seeking enhanced performance, a dual-motor setup comprising a 165 kW (221 hp) and 74 kW (99 hp) configuration is available for AU$84,000 ($5,919). Notably, the 2024 Epiq model comes with notable updates, including a digital rearview mirror and digital side mirrors.

All 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 models in Australia now come equipped with a heat pump, battery heating system, and battery conditioning as standard features. Furthermore, the base model offers seats upholstered in eco-friendly wool yarn, with some of the materials sourced from Australia, and features eco-processed leather.

With these new additions and diverse options, Hyundai’s 2024 Ioniq 5 lineup aims to cater to a wide range of preferences and further solidify the brand’s presence in the Australian electric vehicle market.
