Hyundai Motor Company marked a major production milestone on Monday, surpassing 100 million vehicles produced since its founding 57 years ago. The milestone vehicle, an Avante compact sedan, reflects Hyundai’s legacy, with the model also being the company’s most-sold vehicle, recording over 15 million units sold as of August 2024.

Hyundai’s top five most-sold vehicles include the Avante, followed by the Accent subcompact car, the Sonata midsize sedan, the Tucson compact SUV, and the Santa Fe midsize SUV. Each of these models has contributed significantly to Hyundai’s global success, with the Accent selling more than 10 million units.

Looking to the future, Hyundai’s 100,000,001st vehicle to roll off the production line was the electric IONIQ 5, underscoring the automaker’s shift towards cleaner mobility. The IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance variant, has already gained recognition, being one of the top three finalists for the 2024 World Car Awards.

At Hyundai’s 2024 CEO Investor Day, President and CEO Jaehoon Chang outlined the company’s new strategy, which focuses on expanding its portfolio to include electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. “Under the Hyundai Way, we will respond to the market with agility,” Chang said, emphasizing the company’s approach to sustainable leadership in the evolving automotive landscape.

Hyundai is also collaborating with Samsung to integrate smart home devices with its future vehicles, aiming to create a connected ecosystem that enhances the driving experience.
