Hyundai is currently reportedly preparing to launch its newest electric car, the Ioniq 6. Unlike the previous Ioniq, this time the Ioniq 6 is in the form of a sedan.
Reported from Autocar.co.uk, Friday (8/4/2022), the design refers to the Hyundai Prophecy concept car. But, with a few tweaks and adjustments.
An electric car believed to be the Ioniq 6 was spotted being tested on an unknown road. Of course, almost the entire body of the car is disguised. Even so, Ioniq’s DNA cannot be hidden.
By design, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a different shape than the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 6 has a sedan shape, which is inspired by the Hyundai Prophecy concept car that was showcased in 2020. Although the possibility of the mass production version will not be exactly the same.
“This Ioniq 6 is in the spirit of Prophecy. This car has become taller because of the platform used. And the design maximizes interior space. There are also many aerodynamic changes in the Ioniq 6,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design. Center.
Although it is not yet known in detail, there are several specifications of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 that have been known to date. For example, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will use the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which is similar to the Ioniq 5. Indeed, HMID has explained that the platform will be adapted for various types of cars in the future.
That way the Ioniq 6 will also be available in a choice of two propulsion forces, namely Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD). As for the battery, it is likely that the Ioniq 6 will be equipped with a larger battery than the Ioniq 5, which is 77.4 kWh.
Hyundai has not officially announced when the Ioniq 6 will be launched, but it has been said that this electric car will be introduced in the middle of 2022. Meanwhile, sales will start in 2023
