Luxury automaker Genesis continues to ramp up the availability of its electric vehicles (EVs) in the US market, announcing the addition of seven more states where its three-model EV lineup will be sold. The move brings the total number of states where the Korean luxury brand sells its EVs to 22, up from just 15 two weeks ago.
The GV60 SUV, Electrified GV70 SUV, and Electrified G80 executive sedan will now be available at select retailers in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. This marks an important milestone for the company as it continues to pursue its goal of achieving full electrification by 2030.
According to Claudia Marquez, COO of Genesis Motor North America, “We’re pleased to make our electric lineup available to even more customers across the United States who have been eagerly awaiting a Genesis EV. In only 10 months, we have introduced our first three EV models and have expanded sales to 22 states, representing important steps on our path to achieving full electrification by 2030.”
The company advises customers interested in purchasing an EV to contact their local retailer or visit the Genesis website for more information. The expansion of EV sales is an important step forward for the automaker, which is committed to delivering an all-electric lineup by the end of the decade.
The launch of the Electrified GV70 SUV is also expected to benefit from the expansion of EV sales. The SUV, which is built at parent company Hyundai Motor Group’s Alabama plant, is anticipated to qualify for up to $7,500 in tax rebates. This, coupled with its starting price of $66,425 (excluding destination charges), makes it an attractive option for customers interested in luxury EVs.
Despite not yet being added to the IRS website’s list of eligible vehicles, the Electrified GV70 SUV is expected to meet the criteria for the tax credit, which would bring its effective starting price down to around $60,000 for qualifying customers.
The expansion of EV sales by Genesis represents a significant step towards achieving full electrification in the luxury car market. As the company continues to expand its EV lineup across the US, customers can expect to have more options when it comes to purchasing an environmentally friendly and high-performance vehicle.
