FLO, an EV charging network operator, has unveiled its latest innovation to streamline the charging experience: the EZLift DC fast-charging cable management system. This system aims to eliminate the challenges associated with handling heavy and cumbersome fast-charging cables.
The EZLift system utilizes a patent-pending motorized mechanism to assist with the extension and retraction of fast-charging cables. Nathan Yang, FLO’s chief product officer, highlighted the system’s benefits, stating, “This system enables users from a wider range of ages, strengths, and sizes to manage heavy fast charging cables more easily.”
Integrated within the DC fast charger’s sealed canopies, the EZLift system automates the process of extending and retracting the cable, significantly reducing the effort required to connect the cable to the EV for charging. During charging, the system locks into place, minimizing stress on the car’s charging port and preventing any potentially damaging contact with the vehicle.
One of the key features of the EZLift system is its ability to automatically retract and return the cable to the charging station once charging is complete. This eliminates the risk of the cable becoming a trip hazard or being run over by other vehicles.
The EZLift system will make its debut on FLO’s new 320 kW fast charger, the FLO Ultra, scheduled for deployment this spring. This innovative solution is poised to revolutionize the EV charging experience, making it more accessible and convenient for users of all ages and abilities.
