Flexis, the electric van joint venture established by Renault, the Volvo Group, and logistics firm CMA CGM, has announced its first three models, boasting a WLTP range of up to 450 kilometres. Series production is set to begin in 2026, with logistics providers DB Schenker, Colis Privé, and HIVED among the first confirmed customers.
Founded in 2024, Flexis aims to revolutionize urban logistics with a new generation of fully connected electric vans. Renault and the Volvo Group collectively hold 90% of the joint venture, while CMA CGM owns the remaining 10%. Production will take place at a Renault facility in Sandouville, Normandy, where the Renault Trafic and its electric variant are currently manufactured.

In its first interim update, Flexis revealed that €350 million has been invested in research and development to date. The focus has been on developing an EV-exclusive skateboard platform, which integrates all drive components. While technical details remain limited, Flexis confirmed that its vans will be 300 kg lighter than comparable electrified models built on traditional combustion engine platforms, such as Ford’s E-Transit Custom and Stellantis’ electric vans.
The three models—Step-in Van, Panel Van, and Cargo Van—are designed to cater to diverse urban logistics needs. The Step-in Van features a 1.9-meter-high interior, allowing workers to stand inside, while the Panel Van is optimized for urban maneuverability with a turning circle of 10.3 meters and a height enabling access to underground parking. The Cargo Van, tailored for last-mile deliveries, offers customizable loading areas and modular solutions, including refrigerated compartments.

Flexis has also emphasized the vans’ connectivity and digital services. The platform, powered by Renault subsidiary Ampere, includes a central digital platform called ‘FlexE Connect’ and a customer operations center. Philippe Divry, CEO of Flexis, stated, “Our mission at Flexis is to support and accelerate the electrification of the urban logistics industry, which is looking to operate more sustainably, improve profitability, and enhance operational security and safety for drivers.”
Pierre Sirolli, Head of Flexis Services and Solutions, highlighted the role of data connectivity in optimizing operations: “Through the data connectivity of the Flexis vehicles and a team of experts, we offer personalised recommendations to improve our clients’ overall operations, offering solutions like delivery route optimisation and predictive maintenance.”

The vans will feature an 800-volt system voltage, enabling fast charging, with Flexis claiming an 80% charge in under 20 minutes. The company has already secured letters of intent for 15,000 vehicles from logistics providers in France, the UK, and Germany over the next three years.
Flexis plans to sell its vehicles directly to logistics providers and fleet managers, while also supplying them to the Renault Group and Renault Trucks for distribution under their own brands. The company is currently testing 20 prototypes to refine the final product.

With its focus on sustainability, connectivity, and customization, Flexis aims to position itself as a key player in the electrification of urban logistics. As Divry noted, “We have worked with customers and logistics players to co-create services that meet operational needs and improve the B2B offer on the market with a solution that is 100% electric, 100% connected, 100% customisable, and 100% designed for cities.”
