Factorial unveiled its first 100 Amp-Hour (Ah) solid-state battery cell at CES 2023 in the Stellantis exhibit. This cell is the result of the joint development agreement between Factorial and Stellantis, which was announced in November 2021. The collaboration aims to bring solid-state battery technology to electric vehicles.
Factorial has already successfully developed automotive-sized cells with a capacity of 40 Ah, and is now introducing even larger cells to meet the performance requirements of their top global automotive OEM partners.

Factorial Energy, based in Woburn, Massachusetts, has developed solid-state batteries that offer up to 50% longer range per charge, improved safety, and cost competitiveness with traditional lithium-ion batteries. Their proprietary FESTâą (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology) uses a quasi-solid electrolyte material that allows for safe and reliable cell performance with high-capacity cathode and anode materials.
FESTâą’s electrolyte can be used in 100Ah cells, operates at room temperature, and can be produced using most existing lithium-ion battery manufacturing equipment. The company has received strategic investments and entered into joint collaboration agreements with Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Hyundai Motor Company.
