EVgo announced an expanded partnership with supermarket chain Meijer to deploy up to 480 new fast chargers across six Midwestern states, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the region.
The collaboration, which began in March 2021, has already resulted in 24 public fast-charging stalls at six Meijer locations in Michigan and Ohio. With the new expansion, EVgo plans to add 30 stations by the end of 2026 and another 30 by late 2027, broadening the network to include stores in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Kentucky.
“Fast charging should be an effortless part of drivers’ daily routines, and nothing is more routine than a trip to the grocery store,” said EVgo President Dennis Kish. “By adding hundreds of new fast-charging stalls with the region’s leading supercenter, EVgo’s partnership with Meijer shows our companies’ shared commitment to delivering an elevated charging experience for EV drivers living or traveling throughout the Midwest.”
Meijer has long prioritized sustainability. By the end of 2022, 36% of its 250 locations were equipped with EV chargers, as highlighted in its Corporate Impact Report. The retailer’s environmental initiatives include maintaining the lowest refrigerant emissions rate among EPA GreenChill Program partners for three consecutive years.

The expanded partnership ensures that Meijer customers will gain access to EVgo’s fast chargers, which offer charging speeds ranging from 100 kW to 350 kW, further supporting a seamless transition to electric mobility in the Midwest.
