Initially reported by India’s CNBC TV18, Musk’s trip seemed well-prepared, with the CEO expressing anticipation for meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government officials. The visit coincided with India’s recent unveiling of a new electric vehicle manufacturing policy aimed at attracting investments from companies like Tesla.
Musk’s two-day stay in India was expected to involve discussions not only on Tesla but also on Starlink, his satellite internet project. Despite the delay, Musk’s interest in India remains strong, as he highlighted the country’s growing importance during a previous X Spaces session.
“India is now the most populous country in the world, based on population. India should have electric cars just like every other country has electric cars. It’s a natural progression to provide Tesla electric vehicles in India,” Musk stated, underscoring the potential for Tesla’s expansion into the Indian market.
