Contract manufacturer, Magna has completed production of the first 55 prototypes of the Fisker Ocean electric SUV. The prototype version will undergo various final tests before production begins on November 17, 2022.

Fisker in its report also revealed that the first 5000 Fisker Ocean vehicles have been sold out with all pre-orders having made a deposit of US $ 5,000 each.

“The quality of the prototype still needs to be improved before we go into mass production, as some parts are early prototype parts, but this gives us the time to refine more,” says CEO Henrik Fisker.

All pre-orders for the Fisker Ocean came from nine countries: Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“thousands of customers have paid $5,000 for a vehicle that many have only seen in pictures”, Fisker added

The number of orders for the Fisker Ocean excluding the special model is more than 56,000 units as of August 1, 2022. Fisker will open pre-orders for the Ocean Extreme variant starting November 18.

Fisker also provided an update on the upcoming Pear compact model: the vehicle will use the Fisker-developed SLV1 platform.

The Pear will be built at the former Lordstown plant in Ohio from 2024 – after the upgrade, the plant has a production capacity of 250,000 units per year.
