Chevrolet’s highly anticipated electric vehicle, the 2024 Blazer EV SS, will keep enthusiasts waiting a bit longer. Unveiled at CES 2022, the Blazer EV represents Chevy’s first foray into the world of high-performance electric cars.

Scott Bell, Chevrolet’s Vice President, hails the Blazer SS as a true sports car at heart. Built on General Motors’ dedicated Ultium EV platform, this electric SUV boasts an impressive estimated range of 290 miles and delivers a jaw-dropping 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque through its all-wheel-drive system.

Equipped with the exhilarating Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, akin to the Hummer EV’s Watts to Freedom, the Chevy Blazer SS can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, promising an adrenaline-fueled driving experience.

To distinguish the SS model as the apex of the Blazer EV lineup, GM has bestowed it with a distinctive black front grille, unique rear skid plates, and “SS” badging, signaling its aggressive nature.

Originally slated for a fall release with an approximate starting price of $65,996, the Blazer SS has encountered a slight delay. Chevrolet’s recent website update, noticed by GM Authority, indicates that the SS model is now expected to hit the market in spring 2024.

Nevertheless, Chevrolet is not leaving buyers empty-handed. The Blazer EV, in its other trims, is set to launch this summer. By the following winter, a total of five trims will be available, including the 2LT variant starting at around $47,595, offering up to 293 miles of range, and the street-inspired RS variant starting at approximately $51,995, delivering 320 miles of range.

Spring 2024 will mark the arrival of the much-anticipated SS model, boasting a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $65,995 and an estimated range of up to 290 miles. In the subsequent winter, the 1LT trim is expected to debut, starting at approximately $44,995 and providing up to 247 miles of range. Additionally, GM will introduce a Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) variant.

With the production of the first sellable Blazer EV model already underway, it won’t be long before this electrifying SUV hits the market. Consumers can expect the Blazer EV to become available by the end of the summer, ushering in a new era of Chevrolet’s electric vehicle lineup.
