Chevrolet Blazer EV, makes electric SUV competition tough in the US

To expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio, an automotive manufacturer from the United States (US), Chevrolet has introduced its new electric SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) model, the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

The General Motors (GM) subsidiary has designed the Blazer EV that aligns with consumer demand for ease of EV ownership and propels Chevrolet towards the heart of the electric SUV segment which is currently growing rapidly in the global market.

Chevrolet vice president Scott Bell revealed that the Blazer EV has set a new tone for electric SUVs, with intuitive options and technology helping position Chevy (Chevy as it is affectionately known) to lead in one of the fast-growing EV segments.

“As the all-new Silverado EV and Equinox EV will come next year, we are making great strides in offering more choices for zero-emissions vehicles and even options that make the switch to EV easier than ever,” he explained on his official website, Friday. at (29/7/2022).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has an innovative, dynamic, and athletic design that blends with Chevrolet’s performance DNA to create an expressive design that will create fierce competition in the SUV segment in the US. This electric SUV comes with an aggressive design with a long and stocky hood, and a more sporty appearance with a black grille and accents.

The front fascia of the Blazer EV embeds sleek LED headlights and features a DRL light bar that is pulled straight horizontally and a flaming badge like the Silverado EV which is Chevy’s new design language style for its electric vehicle portfolio.

Not just ordinary lights, this SUV’s front lighting can also convey the charging status when the vehicle is charging. The sequential orchestration of lighting will increase in speed and intensity as charging progresses.

On the side, the body profile of the Chevrolet Blazer EV appears with a muscular aura with toned lines coupled with a two-tone color scheme that emphasizes the sporty impression of the SUV.

Comes with four variants consisting of 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS, each Blazer EV variant has rim diameters ranging from 19 inches for the 1LT and 2LT variants, 21-inch rims for the RS variant and the SS variant will get rims measuring 22 inch.

An aggressive design is also present on the back of the Blazer EV which has firm curves coupled with a quite sporty spoiler and the embedding of LED taillights.

Entering the cabin, the interior of the Chevy Blazer EV is like an exterior that has a design blend of sporty, aggressive, modern and elements inspired by the Chevrolet Performance heritage sports car.

One that catches the eye is a fairly wide 17-inch infotainment system mounted on a stylish dashboard. The system can make it easier for drivers to get information while traveling and connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The superior features in the Blazer EV cabin are also found in heated seats, a flat-bottom style steering wheel in front of which features a more informative 11-inch instrument, the presence of ambient lights to a turbine-inspired AC compartment.

Interestingly, this Blazer EV does not have a Start button like electric cars in general. Instead, this vehicle can detect the key then the driver only needs to step on the brake pedal to start the car.

For the engine, the full specifications of the Chevrolet Blazer EV have not been revealed in detail. However, Chevrolet has confirmed that the Blazer EV 2024 will be offered with several battery and power plant options to drive systems ranging from front-wheel drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

However, in the top variant, namely, SS, Blazer EV is claimed to be able to produce power of 557 hp with maximum torque reaching 879 Nm. As a result, this SUV can cover a distance of up to 515 km on a single charge and accelerates from 0-96 kph in less than 4 seconds.

For safety features, the Blazer EV has been embedded with a series of safety technologies, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator to IntelliBeam auto high beams.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV is planned to be marketed in the summer of 2023 with prices ranging from around USD 45,000 to USD 66,000.
