Charge+ Aims for 30,000 EV Charging Points Across Southeast Asia by 2030

Charge+, a Singaporean electric vehicle (EV) charging provider, has recently announced its ambitious target to establish 30,000 EV charging points in Southeast Asia by the year 2030. This vast network will include a significant portion of 16,000 charging points to be deployed within Singapore. The company’s commitment to sustainable electric mobility aligns with the Singapore government’s efforts to reduce domestic emissions through various green initiatives in the transportation sector.

In collaboration with Singapore’s Minister for Trade & Industry, Gan Kim Yong, Charge+ unveiled new charging stations at prominent locations, namely the HDB car park at Block 153, Jalan Teck Whye, and the Rainforest condominium in Choa Chu Kang.

The development of these charging points follows Charge+’s successful bid in November 2022, where they secured a tender to install 4,000 charging stations in Singapore. This move is part of the city-state’s broader plan to establish a total of 60,000 charging points by the year 2030. Furthermore, to accelerate the transition to cleaner transportation, the Singaporean government had earlier announced the discontinuation of registering new diesel-powered cars and taxis from 2025.

Charge+ had previously announced its commitment to installing 10,000 charging stations across Singapore within the next decade. The recent target of 16,000 charging points by 2030 reinforces the company’s dedication to support Singapore’s goal of phasing out new conventional vehicle purchases by the same year.

Ong Tze Boon, Chairman of Charge+, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s growth and its impact on the region since its founding in 2018. He mentioned that Charge+ has already surpassed a significant milestone, with over 1,000 charging points in Singapore alone. The company remains focused on catalyzing electric mobility throughout Southeast Asia and becoming a leading EV charging provider in the region.
