Cassidy leads Jaguar’s upward trend in Formula E as Porsche’s form curve takes a downward turn

The Formula E season is heating up, and the latest race in Monaco showcased some exciting developments for two of the sport’s top teams. The Jaguar-powered teams have been on an upward trend this season, and that trend continued in Monaco with Nick Cassidy winning the E-Prix in the customer Jaguar of the Envision team ahead of Mitch Evans. This marks Cassidy’s second win in a row, and he has now taken over the championship lead from Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche.

The Monaco race also marked the start of the second half of the season, and the entire Formula 1 circuit was used for the first time. While Formula 1 struggles with overtaking on the narrow track, Formula E proved to be a different story. In fact, there were 116 overtaking manoeuvres in the race, which was less than 30 laps long.

Despite the dominance of the Jaguar-powered teams in the current season, the Nissan teams found the best set-up for a fast lap in Monaco, with Frenchman Sacha Fenestraz even setting the fastest time in the knockout qualifying. However, as the race went on, efficiency and energy management became crucial, and the Nissan race cars fell behind. Cassidy and Evans were able to pull away and engage in some daring overtaking manoeuvres before the safety car was brought out after an accident by Nico MĆ¼ller in the Abt Cupra.

With his win in Monaco, Cassidy now leads the championship standings with 121 points, ahead of Wehrlein with 101 points and Jake Dennis with 96 points. Wehrlein’s teammate, Felix Antonio da Costa, finished 15th in Monaco without scoring any points, meaning that Porsche only scored one point in the race. Envision, on the other hand, scored 29 points, giving them a 182 to 169 lead over Porsche in the team standings. The Jaguar works team is also closing in on Porsche with 156 points.
