Just five weeks after presales began Cadillac reports having received more than 5,000 preorders for the all-electric Lyriq in China.

In China, the local price for the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq is 439,700 Yuan or about $69,040

Purchase of the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq can be made using the Cadillac IQ app or via WeChat with a deposit of 1,190 Yuan or about $186.

Those who pre-order and purchase a Lyriq before the end of April 2022 will receive 10,000 km (~6,200 miles) of free public charging. In addition, buyers are also given a choice of distinctive colors.

The all-electric Cadillac Lyriq for the Chinese market uses GM’s Ultium platform in a 100 kWh battery pack. This battery is claimed to have a range of 494 miles (650 km). The all-electric Cadillac Lyriq uses an electric motor with 340 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque driving the rear wheels.

For the local Chinese market, Cadillac will build a factory in China and will produce it at Cadillac’s Jinqiao plant in Shanghai. The all-electric Cadillac Lyriq will also be built at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee plant.

Cadillac announced in late November that development of the Lyriq was progressing well and was entering the final stages.

A number of other electric Cadillac models are in the works, including the Cadillac Celestiq Sedan which will be launched as a 2023 or 2024 model.
