Cadillac Escalade IQ Teased in Anticipation of August 9 Debut

Cadillac has revealed that the highly anticipated Cadillac Escalade IQ, a full-size electric SUV, will make its debut on August 9 in New York City. Accompanying the announcement are a shadowy image and a brief video, providing a glimpse of what to expect from this upcoming electric vehicle.

The video offers a more detailed look at the Escalade IQ compared to the photo. The front end showcases two columns of vertical LEDs on the outer edges of the nose, while the amber turn signals are positioned horizontally at the base of the hood. Notably, both the grille and the iconic Cadillac badge are illuminated, adding a touch of sophistication to the vehicle’s appearance.

In the teaser video, a brief glimpse of the rear reveals a roof-mounted spoiler and a horizontal, red brake light at the tip. The camera then moves over the roof, showcasing a panoramic glass roof that allows for an expansive view. Inside, a wide screen can be seen on the dashboard, suggesting the presence of advanced technological features. Additionally, the wheels featured in the video appear to be sizable, potentially measuring up to 24 inches, with thick spokes and fins occupying the spaces between them.

Accompanying the announcement are two renders from Kolesa, offering their vision of how the Escalade IQ might look upon its debut. Although the front end bears some resemblance to the teaser video, there are notable differences, particularly at the rear where the artist envisions a vertical light on the spoiler instead of the horizontal lamp depicted in the clip.

At this time, specific details regarding the Escalade IQ’s powertrain remain undisclosed. However, available information suggests that the vehicle will utilize the General Motors Ultium EV platform, known for its versatility in accommodating various battery capacities. Notably, the GMC Hummer EV, which features a massive 205-kilowatt-hour battery pack, is also built on this platform.

Production of the Escalade IQ will take place at Cadillac’s Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, which is already responsible for manufacturing the Hummer EV. Additionally, the facility is preparing to produce the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Denali electric pickups.

Interestingly, the Escalade IQ will not be the sole electric vehicle premiere from Cadillac this year. The luxury automaker has plans to unveil three new electric models before the year’s end. While the identity of the other two vehicles remains a mystery, spy shots have captured Cadillac testing a compact crossover, suggesting it could be positioned below the previously announced Lyriq in terms of size and stature.
