BYD has introduced an updated version of its compact hatchback, the Dolphin, featuring a reduced starting price as part of its ongoing strategy. The new model, known as the Dolphin Glory Edition, was officially launched today, offering four variants with starting prices ranging from RMB 99,800 ($13,860) to RMB 129,800.
Previously, the Dolphin was available in five versions with starting prices ranging from RMB 116,800 to RMB 139,800. The latest price adjustments mark a reduction of RMB 17,000, or 14.55 percent, making the Dolphin the latest addition to BYD’s post-Chinese New Year price war.

Of particular note is the introduction of a new, lower-priced Dolphin variant with a CLTC range of 302 kilometers, while the other three variants offer ranges of 420 kilometers, 420 kilometers, and 401 kilometers, respectively.
This latest move follows BYD’s launch of the Qin Plus Glory Edition and the Chaser 05 Glory Edition on February 19, which also saw significant price reductions, with both models starting at RMB 79,800.
Despite the price cuts, the updated Dolphin boasts several enhancements, including improvements to the suspension, steering wheel adjustment, seat ventilation, and the addition of wireless fast charging for phones.

Measuring 4,125 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, the Dolphin retains its dimensions from the previous version.
