BYD has officially introduced the Xia, a new premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) within its Dynasty lineup. The Xia combines the company’s latest DM 5.0 hybrid technology with a standard DiPilot 100 driver assistance system, offering a modern approach to hybrid MPVs.

The Xia is available in four variants, priced between RMB 249,800 ($34,070) and RMB 309,800. It features a three-row, seven-seat layout, with dimensions of 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, alongside a wheelbase of 3,045 mm. The size of the Xia is slightly smaller compared to BYD’s other MPV, the Denza D9.

Under the hood, the Xia is powered by a 1.5 T engine producing 115 kW of power and 225 Nm of peak torque, complemented by an electric motor that delivers 200 kW and 315 Nm of peak torque. This powertrain allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

The two lower-priced variants are equipped with a 20.39 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade battery, providing a CLTC range of 100 kilometers, while the more expensive variants feature a 36.6 kWh battery that extends the range to 180 kilometers.

The vehicle’s fuel consumption ranges between 5.3 and 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers. When both the battery and fuel tank are fully charged, the Xia offers a combined range of up to 1,060 kilometers. Additionally, the Xia is fitted with BYD’s DiSus C body control system, designed to enhance ride comfort by adjusting suspension damping based on road conditions.

The MPV also comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features, including pilot-assisted driving on highways, park assist, and emergency braking capabilities. The cabin incorporates BYD’s DiLink system, offering a versatile and comfortable interior with seats that can change modes to enhance passenger experience.

The Xia made its debut at the Chengdu auto show in August 2024 and enters a niche segment in the Chinese market, where MPVs typically account for a smaller share of sales compared to sedans and SUVs.
