BYD has officially entered the Omani automotive market, marking a significant move in its Gulf region expansion. The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer recently held a brand launch event in Muscat, the capital of Oman, and inaugurated three local showrooms.
The five models launched in Oman include the Han, Yuan Plus, Seal, Song Plus DM-i, and Qin Plus DM-i. According to AD Huang, general manager of BYD Middle East & Africa, the company’s focus on green mobility aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040 for sustainable development.
BYD’s three flagship showrooms are located in Wattayah, Al Mouj, and the Mall of Oman, with the latter being the first automotive showroom in the country to be situated inside a shopping center. The company plans to further expand its presence by working with local dealers to broaden its sales and service network.
Additionally, BYD plans to launch the Sealion 07 SUV in Oman, adding to its growing local product lineup. The Sealion 07, which was first introduced in China in May, has already been launched in several other countries.
In November, BYD sold 506,804 NEVs, a 67.87% increase compared to the same month last year. Of the total, 504,003 were passenger vehicles and 2,801 were commercial vehicles. Overseas sales totaled 30,977 NEVs, a 1.14% increase year-on-year but a slight decrease from October.
