BYD has showcased its Denza Z9 GT’s remarkable abilities, including the ability to crab-walk around obstacles and parallel-park in tight spaces, as the electric shooting brake nears its global release in Europe and other regions.
This new feature highlights BYD’s innovation in advanced steering technology, particularly its 20-degree rear wheel steering system.
The Denza Z9 GT, which is available in both electric and plug-in hybrid variants, boasts rear steering motors on each rear wheel, offering impressive maneuverability.

With a turning radius of just 4.62 meters (15.2 feet), it can perform a 15-degree crab walk to navigate through tight spaces, far surpassing Tesla’s Cybertruck, which offers a 10-degree upgrade from its initial 3-degree steering.
One of the standout features is the vehicle’s ability to parallel park itself in spaces almost as tight as its own length. By spinning the right rear wheel forward while reversing the left rear wheel, the Z9 GT effortlessly slides into place with a simple tap on the central console.

The Denza Z9 GT is powered by BYD’s Sanfang drivetrain with three independent motors, delivering 965 PS. Along with advanced features like a dual-chamber air suspension, a pillar-to-pillar display, and even built-in refrigerators, the Denza Z9 GT demonstrates BYD’s commitment to blending luxury with cutting-edge technology in its new premium Denza brand. This follows recent demonstrations of BYD’s Yangwang hypercar, which uses its suspension to briefly fly over potholes and spike strips.
