Endolla Barcelona, the public charging network for electric vehicles managed by the municipal company Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM), has reached a milestone of 1,000 charging points. The network covers all neighborhoods in Barcelona and currently offers 50 kW DC chargers or 3.7 kW AC connections.
However, this is just the beginning for Endolla, as the company plans to install an additional 2,000 charging points beginning next year. The existing charging stations will also see an increase in capacity, with plans to triple the power of fast chargers on the roads to 160 kW and double the power of AC chargers in BSM car parks to 7.4 kW.
“The expansion of the Endolla network is a key part of our commitment to sustainable mobility in Barcelona,” said a spokesperson for BSM. “We are pleased to have reached the milestone of 1,000 charging points and look forward to further expanding our network to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging.”
Over the next five years, BSM plans to invest around 15 million euros in the expansion of the network. In addition to charging stations, the organization also plans to introduce battery-swapping points for electric mopeds. This initiative builds on a pilot project conducted with different electric moped operators in BSM car parks, part of the European projects of ECOSWAP by EIT Urban Mobility and eCharge4Drivers.
“We are committed to providing innovative solutions to promote electric mobility in Barcelona,” said the spokesperson. “The introduction of battery-swapping points for electric mopeds is another step towards our goal of creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city.”
