Mercedes-Benz USA has issued a safety recall for 169 EQB electric vehicles after identifying a potential fire risk linked to high-voltage battery cells, the company said in a regulatory filing. The recall affects certain 2022 and 2023 model-year EQB 250, EQB 300 4MATIC and EQB 350 4MATIC vehicles. According to the automaker, the affected vehicles may contain battery cells that are susceptible to internal short circuits under specific conditions, potentially leading to thermal events. Electrify America and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) have opened a new hyper-fast electric vehicle charging station at the Rochester Institute of Technology Inn & Conference Center, expanding public charging access in the Finger Lakes region as New York accelerates deployment of federally funded infrastructure. Rivian founder and chief executive RJ Scaringe has reiterated that the electric vehicle maker will not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, maintaining its strategy of relying on a proprietary operating system to deliver what it describes as a more integrated digital experience.
