The United States Army has received the latest electric pickup Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) from Canoo for analysis and demonstration in fulfillment of a contract awarded in July 2022. The LTV or light tactical vehicle will be used for extreme environments including camouflage configurations. Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has today announced it is pausing plans to produce its electric commercial vans in Europe and will therefore no longer pursue the Memorandum of Understanding with Mercedes-Benz. This Memorandum of Understanding was signed in September 2022. Jeep is recalling 63,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs made in 2020 through and 2022 because their engines suddenly failed. Jeep noted only the plug-in hybrid model was problematic. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe cars being recalled consisted of 62,909 Wrangler 4xe made September 2, 2020 to August 17, 2022. Jeep explained that the hybrid SUV’s engine could suddenly die. This is due to a diagnostic reaction due to loss of communication which can cause an accident. Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) will receive hardware upgrades that will improve range, performance and charging speed. Currently, there are four models based on E-GMP: Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60. Specifically, Hyundai will replace the Silicon power modules it currently uses with third-generation Silicon-Carbide (SiC) units made by STMicroelectronics, which “ensures the greatest power density and energy efficiency, resulting in superior vehicle performance, range and charge times. ,” according to the official press release. Universal EV Chargers announced they were awarded $1.5 million in grants in Ohio, bringing their total grant wins to nearly $12 million. These grants will help businesses in industries such as hospitality and multifamily, among others, provide EV charging to residents, employees and the public. Euro NCAP has just released the safety test results of the ID.Buzz electric MPV which was released earlier this year. The crash test results of the electric MPV did not disappoint and earned a maximum five star rating. Volkswagen ID.Buzz (rear-wheel drive version with 150 kW electric motor, currently available in Europe) notes fairly good passenger protection, according to Euro NCAP.
