Audi Launches First Charging Hub in Austria, Collaborates with Moon Power

Audi, the renowned automobile manufacturer, has recently unveiled its inaugural charging hub in Salzburg, Austria. This significant development is a result of Audi’s collaboration with Moon Power, an establishment that also manages an electric vehicle (EV) competence center in close proximity to the hub.

Marking the fourth of its kind under the Volkswagen brand, the Audi Charging Hub in Salzburg joins the ranks of its predecessors located in Nuremberg, Zurich, and Berlin. Emulating the structure in the German capital, this charging hub offers four rapid charging stations, each capable of delivering a formidable 320 kW of power, which can be conveniently reserved in advance. To alleviate pressure on the grid connection, the hub integrates a stationary battery storage unit. Utilizing second-life batteries obtained from reconditioned lithium-ion batteries sourced from decommissioned development vehicles, this innovative approach eliminates the need for a medium-voltage connection. As a result, the substantial 320 kW power supply can be accessed at any given time, even when all charging points are occupied.

Expressing enthusiasm for this milestone, Thomas Beran, the brand manager of Audi Austria, stated, “We are delighted to be able to open the Audi charging hub in Salzburg as the fourth location worldwide. Flexible and premium fast charging infrastructure in urban areas is becoming increasingly important due to the rising share of electric vehicles.”

The newly established charging park is conveniently situated near Mooncity, Salzburg’s hub for exploring and experiencing new forms of mobility, particularly in the electric domain. The charge point operator (CPO) responsible for managing electricity procurement and overseeing the entire billing system is Moon Power.

This notable collaboration between Audi and Moon Power in Salzburg signifies a significant step forward in bolstering the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. As the market share of electric vehicles continues to rise, the demand for reliable and efficient charging solutions becomes increasingly paramount. With Audi’s charging hub and its cutting-edge features, the company aims to address this need, ensuring a seamless and convenient charging experience for EV owners.
