AT&T Selected as Connectivity Partner for Lucid Electric Vehicles

Lucid Motors has announced that it has chosen AT&T as its exclusive connectivity partner for its electric vehicles. The announcement was made at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The partnership will provide internet connectivity for the Air sedan’s features, such as telematics, diagnostics, audio streaming, and navigation.

The navigation system will assist drivers in maximizing their driving range and reducing the need for charging stops. The Lucid Air is among the most enduring electric vehicles on the road, with a driving range of more than 500 miles.

According to Michael Bell, Lucid Motor’s Senior Vice President, “The strength of AT&T’s network and IoT leadership in the connected car space are key reasons Lucid chose AT&T to connect our vehicles. The automotive industry is on the move, and together, Lucid and AT&T are creating new possibilities for drivers and vehicles.”

AT&T will now power over 60 auto brands, including Audi, Chevy, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC, among others. The internet will work like a mobile hotspot.

By 2030, it is expected that 95% of vehicles will be connected. However, electric vehicle manufacturers have more reasons to connect their cars as it helps extend the driving range.

The partnership between Lucid and AT&T will help both companies to achieve their goals. While Lucid will benefit from AT&T’s robust network and IoT leadership, AT&T will earn more revenue from partnerships with automakers.

Additionally, Lucid recently reduced the cost of the Air sedan by offering a $7,500 discount on certain models, making it more accessible to consumers.
