Polestar has expanded its ‘Polestar Energy’ service to eleven European markets, offering smarter, more efficient, and cheaper home charging for electric vehicle (EV) owners.
Following a successful pilot phase in the UK and the Netherlands, the service is now available in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Italy, and Spain, with additional markets set to follow later this year.

The service allows users to control when and how much their car charges through the ‘Polestar Energy’ app, optimizing the charging schedule to minimize costs. By charging during off-peak hours, the system can reduce energy costs by up to 30%, with lower energy rates either at the source or reflected in the user’s electricity bill.
In 2025, Polestar will also introduce bidirectional charging capabilities for the Polestar 3, enabling vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home functions.
This feature, however, will not be available for the Polestar 2 due to the onboard charger’s limitations. Polestar 3 customers will require a special Zaptec wall box charging station, available through Polestar as part of an exclusive package that includes installation costs.

Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller highlighted the significance of the service, stating, “A saving of 30% on charging costs at home can make a big difference. That’s why we are introducing this offer on a large scale.” He added that the introduction of bidirectional charging will further enhance the value proposition for customers.
