Hyundai cooperating with IonQ to produce EV batteries using quantum computing

Hyundai Motor Company officially partnered with IonQ Inc. to create an efficient electric car battery model for Hyundai cars. IonQ Inc. has been known as a quantum computer manufacturer.

In the collaboration, Hyundai and IonQ will present an electric car battery chemistry model to simulate the structure and energy of lithium oxide.

This chemical model will help improve the performance, cost and safety of lithium batteries.

Hyundai’s collaboration with IonQ is one of the steps for the development of Hyundai’s electric car globally. The development of battery technology is also said to be attracting public interest in using electric cars.

By using quantum computers, researchers can operate millions of times faster than today’s advanced supercomputers. This makes the process of mapping complex molecular structures and chemical reactions in electric car batteries much faster. To make this happen, the IonQ quantum computer still needs to get further upgrades.
