Denza, the premium brand of Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, has officially launched in Thailand, marking its fourth entry into the Asia-Pacific market after Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore. The expansion reflects Denza’s aim to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia, a region increasingly receptive to electric and luxury vehicles.
Denza introduced the Premium-AWD version of its D9 MPV, an all-electric, luxury multi-purpose vehicle tailored for both urban and long-distance driving in Thailand. The D9, spanning over 5.25 meters, boasts a power output of up to 275 kW (368 hp) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Its NEDC range reaches up to 580 kilometers, offering Thai consumers an option for high-performance, long-range electric travel.
BYD has invested significantly in Thailand, having opened a plant earlier this year and now launching Denza with five initial showrooms. Plans are in place to expand to 10 outlets by year-end. The company’s Asia-Pacific sales chief, Liu Xueliang, noted Thailand’s status as a regional automotive hub and expressed confidence in Denza’s ability to attract luxury-minded Thai consumers.
Founded as a joint venture with Daimler (now Mercedes-Benz), BYD acquired full ownership of Denza in September. The D9 is the brand’s first model post-restructuring, with other models like the N7 SUV and Z9GT hatchback available in China.
