Volvo Cars has enhanced charging flexibility for its electric vehicle (EV) drivers by enabling access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across the U.S. and Canada, including for its latest model, the EX90 SUV.

This expansion supplements the existing network of fast-charge points available to Volvo drivers, increasing charging convenience for current and future EV models.

New Volvo EV models, such as the EX90, EX40, and EC40, will come with an adapter for North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers starting with the 2025 model year.

For existing Volvo EVs, these adapters are available for purchase at Volvo retailers in the U.S. and Canada, priced at $230 USD or $310 CAD, with shipments beginning on November 18, 2024. Availability for the EX30 model adapter is expected to be announced later.

Through the Volvo Cars app, drivers can access a unified interface that locates tens of thousands of public charging stations, provides real-time availability, and facilitates payments.

Google Assistant integration in the infotainment system also allows drivers to find and navigate to nearby charging stations.

“Today we are taking a major step to providing access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure for Volvo drivers in the United States and Canada, furthering our commitment to EV adoption,” stated Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada.
