Ford has received approval from the European Commission to deploy its BlueCruise driver-assist system in 15 European countries. The announcement was made by Ford CEO Jim Farley on the social media platform X.
“BlueCruise road trips across Europe just got easier. With the European Commission’s approval, Ford’s BlueCruise is now available in 15 European countries (17 countries globally, including the U.S. & Canada). That means customers can access more than 82,744 miles of designated highways across Europe. Proud of the work our global ADAS and BlueCruise team have done to make this possible!” Farley wrote.

In a press release, Ford highlighted that the hands-free driver-assist system provides access to over 82,744 miles of designated highways across Europe, referred to as “Blue Zones.” This will enable Ford owners to take extensive road trips across countries such as Sweden and Italy. The automaker noted that drivers could travel almost 1,864 miles hands-free across these highways.
BlueCruise has been approved for use in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. Including the United States and Canada, where BlueCruise is already available, Ford’s driver-assist system is now operational in 17 countries globally.

The approval in 15 European countries marks a significant milestone for BlueCruise. Last year, BlueCruise was the first driver-assist suite to gain regulatory approval in Great Britain, and Ford was the first automaker to receive approval in Spain to deploy a hands-free driver-assist system.
Currently, over 420,000 BlueCruise-equipped Ford and Lincoln vehicles are on the road worldwide. Customers in the United States and Canada have collectively spent more than 3.1 million hours using the system, covering over 213 million miles.
