Delhi-based MegaCabs, a prominent player in India’s taxi service sector, is set to bolster its fleet with 2,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across key metro cities including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Goa, according to a recent announcement.
“We are deploying these 2,000 electric vehicles in strategic locations such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Goa,” said Kunal Lalani, Founder of MegaCabs Limited.
Partnering with Gurugram-based XPulse, MegaCabs aims to ensure its EV fleet remains fully operational with dedicated charging hubs and public charging stations strategically located in these urban centers and tourist hotspots.
“Our advanced charging infrastructure will ensure that MegaCabs’ EV fleet is always ready to serve passengers, setting a new standard for urban travel,” commented Madhurendra Lathar, Founder and Managing Director of XPulse.
MegaCabs initiated its electric vehicle venture last year with an initial fleet of 100 units in Delhi, marking a shift towards sustainable mobility solutions. The company, which started operations in 2004 as India’s first radio taxi service provider, emphasizes customer convenience and service quality through both traditional booking methods and mobile apps.
“Our expansion into electric vehicles reflects our commitment to providing eco-friendly and efficient transportation options,” Lalani affirmed.
In India’s evolving taxi fleet landscape, operators like MegaCabs are increasingly adopting models such as the Tata Xpress-T EV, Mahindra e-Verito, and the Citroën ë-C3 to meet growing demand for electric urban mobility solutions.
MegaCabs’ move to integrate electric vehicles into its fleet aligns with broader industry efforts towards sustainable transportation and reduced carbon emissions.
