Tesla is facing criticism from a customer over the return and resale policy for its highly anticipated Cybertruck. Blaine Raddon, the owner in question, booked his Cybertruck back in late 2019 but found himself in a predicament upon its delivery a few weeks ago.

Raddon, who has since split from his partner and moved to a new apartment complex, discovered that the vehicle did not fit comfortably in his parking space, leaving him unable to open the doors easily.

Raddon’s attempts to return or sell the Cybertruck have hit a roadblock due to Tesla’s stringent policies. According to reports, customers who ordered the Cybertruck were required to sign a Motor Vehicle Order Agreement, which restricts them from reselling the vehicle for one year.

Violation of this agreement could result in Tesla suing for damages up to $50,000 or any profits exceeding that amount from the resale. Moreover, Tesla may blacklist such resellers from future purchases.

Although Tesla offers a buyback option for Cybertruck owners, allowing them to return the vehicle for the purchase price minus a deduction for mileage and wear and tear, Raddon claims he has been denied this option. Despite explaining his situation to his local Tesla dealership manager, Raddon was informed that his circumstances did not warrant a buyback.

In an email to Tesla, Raddon expressed his frustration, stating, “I am trying to remedy an unfortunate circumstance that the Cybertruck is not manageable in my living situation. Making me keep a truck that does not fit my circumstances appears to be unfair and not at all the spirit of the no-sale language in the contract.”
