Rocsys, a Dutch company specializing in robotic charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), has announced exciting new partnerships with Easymile from France and Autocar from the USA. Both companies intend to utilize Rocsys’ cutting-edge charging solutions, which are based on robotics and AI-based computer vision, in their future operations.
Since 2019, Rocsys has been developing an autonomous charging platform that allows a robot to plug and unplug charging cables automatically, without any human intervention. This technology aligns with the vision of Easymile and Autocar for a future where autonomous vehicles can charge themselves seamlessly, maximizing uptime and productivity.
Alban Brisy, Director of Business Development at Easymile, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “Having an autonomous transport operation is not just about driving; it’s about providing a comprehensive, industrialized, and certified solution.” Brisy also announced the successful qualification of Rocsys’ solution with Easymile’s autonomous terminal trucks, a crucial step towards providing fully certified autonomous container transport solutions by 2025.
Elwin Roetman, Director of Strategic Accounts and Partnerships at Rocsys, emphasized the benefits of their hands-free charging system, stating, “We are delighted to partner with EasyMile and demonstrate the compatibility of our systems, showcasing to seaports and all autonomous electric vehicle (EV) fleet managers that our solutions can deliver real benefits in terms of scalability, safety, efficiency, and uptime.”
For Autocar, the partnership with Rocsys is focused on ‘hands-free charging’ of electric terminal tractors in distribution centers, inland ports, and other logistics facilities. Andrew Taitz, Chairman of Autocar, praised the collaboration, calling hands-free charging “a pivotal advancement in the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets.” Autocar aims to provide its customers with electric trucks that are always ready for use, thanks to non-manual charging stations set up on-site.
