London-based ride-hailing provider WeFlex has made a substantial move towards greener transportation by placing an initial order for 165 electric bZ4X SUVs from Toyota. WeFlex, which currently operates a fleet of over 2,300 battery-electric vehicles, aims to transition to a fully emissions-free fleet in the future.
The decision to invest in Toyota’s bZ4X showcases WeFlex’s commitment to sustainability and mirrors the efforts of ride-hailing giant Uber, which aims to electrify its 55,000 drivers in London by 2025.
Neil Broad, General Manager of One Toyota Fleet Services, expressed confidence in the bZ4X, stating, “WeFlexâs commitment to bZ4X is a valuable seal of approval for the vehicleâs quality and capabilities.” He highlighted the vehicle’s smooth performance, spacious interior, and the reliability of Toyota’s electrified vehicle technologies, indicating it will be a popular choice among WeFlex’s customers.
WeFlex’s founder and CEO, Nicko Williamson, emphasized the importance of electric vehicles in reducing carbon emissions, stating, “To significantly reduce vehicle-based carbon emissions, Britain needs more electric vehicles â and the ride-hailing industry is a huge part of that.” He noted that WeFlex’s electric vehicles have already covered 90 million miles, highlighting the company’s contribution to a cleaner environment.
