Domino’s Unveils Innovative Electric Bike Equipped with Onboard Oven for Piping Hot Pizza Deliveries

Domino’s Pizza has revealed its latest innovation: the dxb electric bike. While electric bicycles for delivery services are not new, the dxb stands out with a unique feature – a built-in mobile oven aimed at ensuring pizzas reach customers’ doorsteps fresh and warm.

The dxb’s distinctive design includes a spacious rear compartment that doubles as a mobile oven, allowing freshly baked pizzas to be kept warm throughout the delivery process. This inventive approach promises customers an oven-fresh experience, challenging the common issue of pizzas cooling during transit.

Addressing potential challenges in delivery terrain, Domino’s equipped the dxb with “space age suspension” to maintain the pizza’s integrity, even in hilly or uneven environments. The company claims that the suspension system reduces G-forces by up to 67%, providing a smooth ride for the precious cargo. Notably, the suspension mechanism appears to be housed internally in the rear storage compartment, complemented by a suspension fork at the front.

While the dxb primarily focuses on its unique pizza preservation features, it maintains the characteristics of a standard e-bike. Sporting 20-inch wheels with street tires, the bike incorporates a downtube-integrated battery pack, assumed to power both the bike and the rear-mounted oven. Specifics regarding the motor power and overall range remain undisclosed, emphasizing its suitability for in-city use.

Potential customers in the United States may be disappointed to learn that the dxb is slated for deployment in Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (DPE) markets, excluding the U.S. DPE’s extensive coverage spans over 2,800 stores across various countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia.
