Energica Motor to Supply Police with Electric Motorcycles in France

Electric motorcycles are gaining ground across various sectors, particularly in Europe and Asia, where electric scooters and commuter bikes have become increasingly prevalent. Law enforcement agencies in Europe are also embracing electric motorcycles, with the French Police being the latest to join this trend.

The Union de Groupements d’Achats Publics (UGAP), France’s primary public purchasing authority, has recently chosen Energica Motor to provide electric two and three-wheeled vehicles for the country’s public administrations. These vehicles fall under the “Road Trail” category, featuring power outputs exceeding 8 kilowatts or approximately 11 horsepower. They will serve the French National Police and the Gendarmerie Nationale.

Energica Motor’s adventure-touring electric motorcycle, the Energica Experia, will be a significant addition to the French law enforcement’s fleet. These motorcycles will be supplied through Energica’s French distributor, Durisotti SAS, which has been responsible for Energica distribution in France since 2017. To equip them for law enforcement duties, the Energica Experia motorcycles will be fitted with rotating lights, sirens, side panniers, and distinctive liveries specific to each law enforcement agency. Three different color schemes will be produced, including blue for the Gendarmerie Nationale, a version for the National Police, and an unmarked variant for police patrols.

In terms of performance, the Energica Experia boasts an impressive mid-drive electric motor producing 101 horsepower and 85 pound-feet of torque. The motorcycle can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. It is equipped with an 11.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, providing an urban range of 261 miles on a single charge. When used on highways, the combined range drops to 153 miles with city use included.

Livia Cevolini, CEO of Energica Motor, expressed her pride in the partnership with French law enforcement and stated, “We are proud of the trust that UGAP has placed in us and are delighted to work with such an important institution. This new business expansion offers extraordinary development opportunities not only for today, but also for the future. The French government is implementing important policies supporting the adoption of electric vehicles, ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games. We are honored to be an integral part of this transition.”
