MAHLE and ProLogium Partner on Solid-State Battery Solutions

German automotive supplier MAHLE and Taiwan’s leading battery manufacturer ProLogium have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pioneer innovative thermal management solutions for the next generation of solid-state batteries. This collaboration aims to leverage ProLogium’s oxide solid-state lithium ceramic battery technology, which promises extended driving range, rapid charging capabilities, and enhanced battery recyclability.

The primary focus of this partnership will be the development of tailored thermal management solutions specifically designed to accommodate the unique characteristics of ProLogium’s cutting-edge battery technology. By doing so, both companies seek to foster competitive battery systems that offer exceptional efficiency, energy density, longevity, and rapid charging capabilities.

Solid-state cells hold tremendous promise for the future of electric vehicles, boasting notable advantages in terms of safety and energy density. These advancements are expected to translate into significantly increased driving ranges and higher safety standards for battery systems.

Having already established itself as a pioneer in battery cooling systems with over a decade of series production experience, MAHLE brings valuable expertise to this collaboration. The company’s past innovations have contributed to enhancing the cruising range and fast-charging capabilities of electric vehicles while simultaneously improving overall driving comfort.

Commenting on the collaboration, Arnd Franz, Chairman of the MAHLE Management Board and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the win-win situation. He emphasized that the combined expertise of both groups would lead to the development of battery technologies with superior properties, shaping the future of electric vehicles.
