Leading electric vehicle (EV) charging platform, Chargemap, has unveiled an exciting subscription plan that provides EV drivers with preferential rates for ultra-rapid charging at Ionity columns throughout Europe. The recently launched ChargeMap Pass subscription is projected to save users up to 30 percent on charging costs, although the exact savings may vary.
To take advantage of this exclusive Ionity offer, EV drivers must have an active Chargemap Pass. The subscription begins with a three-month package priced at €38.70, payable upfront. Subsequently, the monthly cost amounts to €12.90, and users can cancel the contract at any time after the initial three-month period.
The cost savings offered by the Ionity subscription are contingent on the respective country of usage, typically resulting in savings of nearly 20 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). For instance, in the United Kingdom, utilizing Ionity with a ChargeMap Pass reduces the charging rate to £0.59 instead of the standard £0.77 per kWh. In France, the rate becomes €0.53 instead of €0.72 per kWh with a subscription, while in the Netherlands, it drops to €0.64 from €0.82 per kWh. In Germany, the reduced rate is 64 cents per kWh, compared to the regular 82 cents when using Chargemap, indicating a savings of 22 percent.
However, EV drivers are advised to evaluate the potential benefits for themselves. By analyzing the German example and the 18-cent price advantage per kilowatt-hour, subscribing to the Ionity offer becomes worthwhile for those who charge more than 72 kWh monthly (based on the given Chargemap prices). Additionally, greater savings may be achieved by utilizing manufacturer-specific offers, which often involve charges after the first year. Furthermore, Ionity’s own subscription, called Passport, offers even more significant savings. For just €11.99 per month with an unbinding contract, subscribers can enjoy a 20-cent reduction in the kWh price, resulting in a rate of €0.59 per kWh in Germany. Therefore, the Ionity subscription becomes financially advantageous for those who consume 60 kWh or more per month at Ionity charging stations.
Chargemap asserts that the subscription becomes cost-effective after three charges per month. Moreover, there are other notable advantages to using the Chargemap Pass. In addition to Ionity, it provides access to the charging stations of over 800 operators across Europe. However, at present, no other subscriptions apart from Ionity are available.
Yoann Nussbaumer, the founder and CEO of Chargemap, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “The Ionity network has revolutionized the e-mobility landscape by establishing an extensive charging station infrastructure, making it one of the preferred networks for Chargemap Pass users. I am thrilled that we can now offer a tariff tailored specifically to regular users of the Ionity network, which can be easily activated through our mobile app.”
