Vauxhall Announces Pricing for Astra Electric and Opens Orders for Astra Sports Tourer GSe in the UK

Vauxhall has recently revealed the pricing details for its latest offerings, the Astra Electric and the Astra Sports Tourer GSe. The Astra Electric, the brand’s first fully electric vehicle, will have a starting price of Ā£39,995 on the road (OTR). Meanwhile, customers can now place orders for the Astra Sports Tourer GSe, a plug-in hybrid variant, starting from Ā£43,250.

The Astra Electric will be available in two trim lines: the sporty GS and the top-of-the-range Ultimate. Prospective buyers can now place their orders, and deliveries are expected to commence later this summer. The vehicle was initially introduced in November last year, along with the unveiling of its technical specifications.

Both the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric utilize the same drive system technology found in the corresponding Peugeot sister models, the 308 and 308 SW. The electric drive system, jointly developed with Nidec, offers a power output of 115 kW and generates a maximum torque of 270 Nm. With a top speed of 170 km/h, the Astra Electric boasts a range of up to 258 miles (415 km), according to the WLTP standard. Charging the vehicle on a 100 kW DC charger takes approximately 30 minutes to reach a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) using a CCS connection. Alternatively, using a Type 2 charger, it can take up to 8 hours on a 7 kW home wall box charger or 5 hours and 45 minutes on an 11 kW connection.

Additionally, Vauxhall has opened orders for the Astra Sports Tourer GSe, a performance-oriented plug-in hybrid version of the Astra Sports Tourer. The Astra Sports Tourer GSe combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an 81.2 kW electric drive, resulting in a maximum torque of 360 Nm. This configuration enables the Astra Sports Tourer GSe to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 146 mph. Equipped with a 12.4 kWh battery, the Astra Sports Tourer GSe offers an electric range of up to 39 miles.

With these new models, Vauxhall is expanding its lineup to include electric and plug-in hybrid options, catering to the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles. The Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer GSe provide customers with a choice of sustainable mobility solutions, combining advanced technology, performance, and efficiency.
