Stagecoach Continues to Expand Its Electric Bus Fleet in Scotland with 39 New Buses from BYD and Alexander Dennis

In a significant step towards achieving a net-zero UK bus fleet by 2035, Stagecoach has added 39 new electric buses to its Scottish fleet. The delivery, made by BYD UK and Alexander Dennis, includes 24 Enviro200EV solo buses and 15 Enviro400EV double-deckers.

These new electric buses will operate in several Scottish cities, including Perth, Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Ayrshire. With this delivery, Stagecoach now operates a total fleet of 85 BYD-ADL electric buses in Scotland.

“We are delighted to deliver the UK’s first all-electric city bus networks, building further on the investment made in new zero emission buses in a number of places in the UK. These new state-of-the-art electric buses introduced across Dunfermline, Inverness and Perth will help deliver significantly reduced emissions in these cities,” said Sam Greer, Stagecoach Regional Director for Scotland.

The support of ScotZEB, along with the pioneering battery technology and innovation in new energy products, has made it possible for BYD UK and Alexander Dennis to contribute to Stagecoach’s transition to clean eMobility solutions. This latest delivery comes after ADL announced the expansion of its electric bus production capacities in Scotland at its headquarters in Larbert. Stagecoach has also recently expanded its EV capacities by becoming the first company to launch the new electric Volvo BZL buses in the UK.

With more and more companies transitioning to electric buses, it is clear that the future of public transportation is electric. These 39 new electric buses from BYD and Alexander Dennis are a significant step forward for Stagecoach in achieving a net-zero UK bus fleet by 2035, and they are setting an example for others to follow.
