Tesla’s quest for world domination in the automobile industry is well underway, but the company knows that it can’t do it alone. That’s why it has begun recruiting in Malaysia, where it is working towards establishing an official presence in the country. In an effort to expand its global reach, Tesla is now advertising nine positions in Malaysia on its website, covering a range of categories, including engineering, IT, operations, and sales.

Last month, the Minister of International Trade and Industry welcomed Tesla to Malaysia on Twitter, and it’s no surprise that Malaysian vacancies have since popped up on Tesla’s website. The company’s natural choice for establishing an official footprint in the country is Kuala Lumpur, where all of the advertised positions are located.
With an official presence in Malaysia, Tesla is expected to set up a country head office and experience and service centers, which could make Supercharging stations more likely since Tesla cars will soon be sold locally.
A notable detail in Tesla’s FY2022 annual report was the mention of a subsidiary named Tesla Sdn. Bhd. The subsidiary was previously known as Tesla Services Sdn. Bhd., which didn’t sell EVs but handled the company’s accounting and finances in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

The timing couldn’t be better for Tesla to enter the Malaysian market, as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry has recently approved the import of battery-electric vehicles into the country. This move will provide Tesla with a huge opportunity to grow its customer base in Asia, and the company is well aware of this fact. With the right team in place, Tesla will be well-positioned to capitalize on this exciting opportunity and take the Malaysian market by storm.
