Ionity has opened two new charging parks in France and Italy, located on key travel routes connecting northern and southern Europe. The dual charging parks in Mornas, France, are Ionity’s largest charging parks to date, with fast charging of up to 350 kW and the capacity to serve up to 16 electric vehicles simultaneously.
The charging parks are situated on France’s busy “sunshine highway” connecting Lyon with Marseille and Nice on the Mediterranean coast. In addition to this, the new French stations will feature architectural elements like weather protection blinds and solar panels on the roofs, addressing a previous criticism of Ionity’s charging parks.

Meanwhile, in Italy, Ionity has inaugurated a smaller HPC charging park with six fast charging points near the city of Rome. The charging park is located at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Fiano Romano, and according to Ionity, it is intended to close the gap in connectivity between central Europe and the southern part of Italy.
Ionity has a strong presence in France, with 120 active charging parks and 576 charging points, as stated in the press release. The company is also planning further long-term investments in the region, though no details have been provided yet.

Marcus Groll, COO of Ionity, expressed his optimism about the growth of sustainable mobility, saying, “Driving electric protects the climate without compromising on individual mobility. The IONITY high-power charging network along Europe’s highways has been a key enabler of sustainable mobility. Our new station in France sets new benchmarks with regard to size and adjacent services hence increasing electric travellers’ convenience.” With the opening of these new charging parks, Ionity continues to play a significant role in advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in Europe.
