Rheinmetall PolyCharge GmbH, a joint venture between Rheinmetall AG and PolyCharge America, has secured its first order from a global supplier to the automotive industry, one year after its inception. The mid double-digit million euro order includes development services and full-scale production of two DC-link capacitors for use in the 900V range, utilizing the innovative NanoLam technology.
Rheinmetall PolyCharge GmbH, in which Rheinmetall holds a 75% stake, won the order over international competitors, and anticipates additional orders in the near future.

The PolyCharge NanoLam technology enables capacitors that are half the weight and size of conventional polypropylene solutions, with the ability to operate at higher temperatures due to their extremely thin, dielectric polymer coating.
DC-link capacitors, used to stabilize the DC voltage and limit fluctuations in electrical systems, are employed not only in hybrid and electric vehicles but also in various industrial applications. This initial order sets in motion the start of full-scale production, validating Rheinmetall’s strategy of innovation as a subsystem and component supplier for the fast-growing markets of electromobility and other industrial applications.
